If you were an author would you believe that writing books is a form of art. If so why? Are writers artists? Are dancers? Do you call yourself an artist? What is the definition of an artist to you?
I do feel that an author is considered an artist. They write books and novels that they thought up in their minds and transcribed it to paper. They had a vision and went with it and instead of painting it or singing it they wrote it which is just like what an artist would do. I don't call myself an artist. Like I have said in previous posts, what I'm going into (music business) I don't consider art. I don't consider knowing a lot about music and the music industry a form or art. Obviously the artists that are signed to certain labels are the actual artists not the people who sign them or promote them.
If I were an author, I would believe that writing a book is a form of art. By writing a book you can express yourself in so many ways. You can express your emotions, creativity by artwork on your book cover and pages, share your thoughts, and are passionate about it because you want people to appreciate your book more. Writers and dancers are compatible by expressing their inner feelings to an audience. I consider myself as an artist because as an artist would do, I also want to share my inner thoughts and creations to the world.
I do see a writer as an artist because he is showing us how me expresses himself from words and showing us how they see things and showing us what they see through their eyes. Yes a dance is an artist because they show us their sort of art with their body by dancing. I call myself a artist because I show my feeling through my computer graphics art and the art from my zine.
The definition of art to me is a unique creation from the human’s mind, if you dance then that’s another way of expressing art through body movement or if you’re a musician then you express your form of art through sound and word. You can define art through so many things in the world.
An author is an artist. It takes a creative person to think of a story. Authors use their creative mind to create all the detail that goes into a book. Detail such as: plot, setting, conflict, main character, characters, and their personalities. I am a dancer and I do consider myself an artist. I know I am an artist because I think outside the box with so many things. When I listen to music, I think of a dance routine in my head. When I am in a dance studio, I can let everything go. If I was not a true artist I would not feel the feelings I do when I dance. I believe that an artist is someone who can spark emotion towards other people by the work they have created.
Writing is a form of art. It is an artist passion to speak through books that give an imagination and point views of real life situations. Most people say that a writer isn’t an artist but they are artist. They tell a story through words and sometimes pictures. Anything that you put your mind, heart, and feelings into makes art and are courage to show the world. Dancers are artist that express through movements, emotions, lyrics, and life connections that make them stronger and discipline. I am an artist that makes a difference and make a way and connection through my dance. An artist is a person who has a passion that drives them to make, show, or even create an image of life through that dream. An artist is a creator and inventor.
I'm a firm believer that writing is an art form. We have creative writing classes even in high schools. I as an artist not only do I draw, but have become confident in my writing skills. When I write I want to reach my reader. I want them to feel the emotion that I have transfered onto paper. I couldn't see why you wouldn't consider novels or poetry or anything related art. It's personal expression in a very direct form, language. As a musician I also have to write lyrics for songs. Only for the songs that I want to have lyrics but they are still words that find there way to paper.
Writing books is definitely art. The way books are imagined and how their meanings are perceived is what makes it art. Artists work are to serve the purpose of conveying a message or in other words to cause you to think about a global issue. Before I came to the bridge program I wouldn’t have considered myself an artist. For the simple fact that I never really had the right definition on what a true artist is. I use to believe that true artists where like painters and poets. Since then I’ve discovered that an artist can come from various backgrounds. I am now an artist because before I didn’t really have a higher purpose for my work, I never really thought about the message I was trying to convey, I was only on the surface wanting to party all the time. Now my message is change and innovation that you can have a better experience then the norm. change is always good if its positive.
I think that anything that can represent your thought or an emotion can be art. Therefore, writers, dancers, poets, etc. are artist. An artist is a person who put that all into a passion they have, and is able to be different, and unique. Art is fill of uniqueness, passion, emotion, talent, and unthinkable. Art is what you make it. For an example, when I dance a solo piece I tend to do more creative moment that might not actually be consider as and certain dance style, but people usually see that as different and interesting to see, instead and the usual.

Like authors, they want their readers to be engaged in their writing. I call myself an artist because I enjoy acting and performing. I love to be the center of attention when I'm on stage. The definition of artist to me is someone who is really devoted and passionate about their dreams.
Anyone who creates a piece that they put all their emotion into it, has a great passion for it, and can do it on their free time, all the time, are an artist to me. Art doesn’t necessarily have to be a painting, a song or a dance, not in my mind. But I also think that those pieces are the most interesting and creative. However, art is anything that completes somebody emotionally that they have love for. I will admit I do not think writing book is a form of art depending on what you put inside of them. For instances research books are not art to me because they state interesting facts but are not creative in itself. However if one was to create a book filled with all poetry, pictures or an emotional connection, that is art to me. Anything emotional and passionate is a form of art, but at the same time, I guess “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.
