Days with my Father

Below is a link to a photo journal by Phillip Toledano. Read through and comment on one or more of the following things: How do you like the form of this blog, photo journal? How does the presentation of photo and prose affect you? Would the journal be as effective as just prose (writing) or just visual (photography)? Why did Toledano decide to do this project? Who are the players, or characters, within this journal and what do we as viewers/readers learn about them? Do you have a person you could devote a project to, or who you would like to learn more about? Who is it, why?

  2. If I could devote a project to someone it would be my parents cause there everything to me espsecially my mother but the real reason I would pick my parents is because if it wasn’t for the discipline and everything they taught me (wisdom wise) iono where I’d be my mother is everything to me and so is my farther so I would devote it to them.

  3. I like the photo journal style of this blog, the presentation, of the blog itself to me is very acceptable for the story he's trying to tell. I believe the photo style journal will keep all readers (even ones that probably wouldnt read material like this.) attention span tuned in to the story. The photos gives the mind a visual aid to go along with the emotional connection your recieveing from reading the text. If the blog were just prose or visual it wouldnt be the same. You need both elements in order to get the freeze frame of the author's life. Toledano decided to do this because he wanted to document the last remaining days he had with his father. The characters in this journal is Toledano, Mom, and Dad. We learn instantly how close as a family they are and how each character sheilded each other in some way to help one another. I would devote a project to my idol Sean Carter (Jay-Z). I would do this because I believe he is a great man with extreme business savy and mental intellgience, and talent. I would just love to dwell into how he thinks and what made him the person he is today.

  4. I can say that the one person in my life who is my actual role model is my father. Coming from a poor family, my dad strives to give us nothing but the best in life. He has the strongest work ethic. While reading Days with my Father, it affected me because the man showed how he truly cared about his father. He talked about how if father was always telling him what to do to make him a better person in life. I really connected with the author in that aspect. The photos with the captions made it more emotional and realistic. Not only did you get to hear about the wonderful life of his father, but you got to see glimpses of it as well.
